Holistic Advice

Partnering with entrepreneurs and families to manage transactions, or complex transitions, is an art form. Our role as a trusted advisor and confidant is to provide the tools for effective decision-making using our experience, advice and research.

What inspired you to join Bernstein?

Bernstein’s reputation and heritage are unsurpassed in the industry. Nevertheless, the reasons to join our firm can be easily distilled into two things. First, the people I had the opportunity to meet while interviewing for my current position, and now have the privilege to work beside. Many had dedicated most, or all, of their careers to Bernstein—a rarity in our field. In addition, everyone was genuinely interested in their colleagues who all espoused the same ethical and intellectual standards. I can’t imagine a more supportive community. Which leads to the second reason I feel fortunate to work at Bernstein. The firm has long embraced its research heritage. The dedication to intelligent, objective and unconflicted analysis, on behalf of clients, is a Bernstein standard and tradition of which I am proud to be a part. At Bernstein, we can combine the best of technical knowledge with an unparalleled dedication to clients and community.

Tell me about the types of clients you work with.

I have the privilege of working with entrepreneurs and families. Each carries both the opportunity, and complexity, that oftentimes comes along with great resources. Together, my team and I prepare individuals and families for business sales, major liquidity events and family transitions. While our core function at Bernstein is investment management, our role is to serve as a trusted advisor and confidant for our clients. In an M&A transaction or a complex family transition, myriad professional and personal decisions need to be made. My role is to bring intellectual and analytical rigor to the table to refine complex matters into objective recommendations. Often, my team and I spend years working with families and business owners preparing them for transitions or liquidity events. We enjoy every moment. I want to be a key resource in my clients’ lives, similar to a family member. My hope is to help them cope with complexity so they can focus on what matters most.

What passions do you pursue outside of work?

My family will always come first. In 2020, my wife and I were fortunate enough to welcome our first child. Spending time with my immediate family, as well as my brothers, their families and my parents, is my greatest pursuit. The source of my greatest joy comes from seeing everyone together, happy and healthy. Whatever time is left over, it’s likely that you can find me on a running trail or exploring on my bike. As a former professional triathlete, I had the chance to invest all my energy into sports for a period of time. To this day, I still love having the wind in my hair when I am out on the road with friends. Finally, I am a firm believer in paying it forward. To improve my community, I spend time working with the alumni associations for my school and university, and with a number of organizations focused on early education and child welfare.
