Inspiring Future Firm Leaders

Wealth comes in many forms—time, knowledge and dollars. As a Manager at Bernstein, I leverage the relationships I’ve forged to help both clients and employees use their individual sources of wealth to elicit the change they want to see.

What inspired you to join Bernstein?

Bernstein has been my employer for only a few years, but it has been a household name in my family for a very long time. My grandfather and my great-grandfather, both Brooklynites, purchased their engagement rings for my grandmother and great-grandmother, respectively, from their local jeweler and friend, Jack Bernstein. Jack was the father of Zalman Bernstein, our firm’s founder! This unique tie to my ancestors is so special to me. Throughout my Bernstein interview process, and my ensuing years at the firm, I realized that familial tie was far-reaching across the firm as well. Bernstein colleagues are not just coworkers that occupy the same office space during business hours. Instead, they are the hardest working, most dedicated, thoughtful and intelligent people I’ve ever met. This firm is truly a trailblazer in the finance industry. We are a global boutique firm founded on research, integrity and ingenuity, and we are always evolving to offer clients the best services and advice.

Share one of your most memorable professional accomplishments with us.

As a Manager, I help others find opportunities to maximize and multiply their strengths. Additionally, I assemble a team of leaders who evoke action and create a meaningful impact. Each person I manage has different interests, experiences and potential. I am only as successful as the people I manage. My most memorable professional accomplishments involve seeing others succeed. Recently, I helped a colleague create an action plan to overcome obstacles preventing him from taking his career to the next level. Clearly defined goals, a roadmap and support along the way enabled him to enhance his performance and solidify his role as an office leader. Seeing him today in a role where he manages others and helps them develop at the firm is extremely fulfilling. Through this journey, I learned that there is a domino effect when you are invested in someone else’s development. Every moment, conversation and situation shape my team and inspire future firm leaders.

What passions do you pursue outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy baking, rock climbing and volunteering with my dog. I love celebrating special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, career milestones, or even just Fridays, with baked goods! From cookies to brownies to cakes, a sweet treat always brightens someone’s day. I starting rock climbing a few years ago. I love the thrill of it and the determination, patience and grit it takes to scale a wall over 50 feet high. I also enjoy the unique, and reciprocal, reliance on another individual. You learn to trust the person belaying you to physically and mentally guide you up the wall. Then, you trade places! My rescue dog Bunny is well known among my friends and coworkers. Her curly coat and super prominent underbite are hard to forget! I fostered her from a local animal shelter for about two months before "foster-failing" and adopting her. She’s my carefree, sociable and goofy sidekick who also enjoys giving back by visiting hospital patients and children in foster care.
