What inspired you to join Bernstein?
I was inspired to join Bernstein for the simple fact that you can only win with great people. Bernstein is really different from other financial firms. It is a culture- and inclusion-driven firm with a singular focus. This unique approach allows us to put our clients at the forefront of everything we do. We see collaboration as vital, which gives me peace of mind to know that everything we do is 100% client-focused.
I’m intrinsically interested in others and I’ve always been a connector and eager to help. Though I wasn’t a financial advisor before joining Bernstein, I’ve spent my entire professional career as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them solve complex problems. I enjoy being a member of a team that’s driven by the same results. I’m a resource for uniquely successful individuals.
Which book had the most profound impact on you and why?
How To Win Friends And Influence People. I first read it about 15 years ago. The book embodies the skill set of being an excellent listener to encourage others to talk about themselves. It’s all about showing genuine interest in others. I learned that the sweetest sound to someone else is their name. It’s crucial to remember people’s names!
I need to make the other person feel important, release my agenda, and talk about things that are important to the other person. Active listening and showing genuine interest are how you become a trusted advisor.
What passions do you pursue outside of work?
I am passionate and enthusiastic about sports. I have had the opportunity to coach my children over the years and I know that teamwork, commitment, and physical activity can create a solid road map for an individual's future.
I love spending time with my wife and two daughters, listening to music, and reading. I enjoy many cuisines, and I’m an avid golfer.
