What inspired you to join Bernstein?
Bernstein is about serving clients, not selling a product. We are fiduciaries first and foremost, so our focus is always on elevating the client experience. This focus on the client’s best interest was vital to my decision to join Bernstein, as it is essential to how I run my practice. I practiced law for 15 years prior to my current role at Bernstein. In this career, I also stood in a fiduciary capacity with clients, which gave them confidence that our interests were aligned. Bernstein’s vast resources, such as our wealth forecasting tools, support my fiduciary role. They allow me to plan for my clients' financial futures and give them something all humans desire, a sense of certainty and confidence.
Tell me about the types of clients you work with.
I’m introduced to most of my clients when they are going through, or are about to experience, a money-related transition. Family law clients may be going through a divorce. Other legal clients, entrepreneurs and business owners could be on the cusp of a large liquidity event, such as the sale of their business or a large financial transaction. No matter what the circumstance may be, it’s my responsibility as their financial advisor to plan for that specific transition, execute the plan and assist with the human side of it.
Which personal accomplishment makes you proudest?
For the longest time, my proudest personal accomplishment was becoming a United States Marine. The Marines embody so many values I hold dear, including accountability, loyalty, hard work and service. While the Marines certainly still rank near the top of my achievement list, I have since become the proud father of three children and husband to an incredible wife. Therefore, my family is now undoubtedly my greatest personal accomplishment.
