What has inspired you to stay at Bernstein for as long as you have?
The people and the integrity of our firm are why I stayed at Bernstein. When I come to work every day, I have full assurance that everyone at our company is determined to do the right thing for our clients. This gives me immense pride, joy and confidence, which is invaluable and rare, especially in the world of finance.
Bernstein is also unique because of our team-oriented dynamic. From senior investment professionals to our interns, every person at Bernstein makes themselves readily available to help. This applies to any situation I might find myself in, new or old, and whether I am in need of guidance, feedback or advice. Every person at Bernstein enjoys working together to do what’s best for our clients. This not only makes our clients happy but creates a joyful atmosphere that is a pleasure to immerse myself in.
Which personal accomplishment makes you proudest?
The accomplishment I am most proud of is my family. I have a 2-year-old son whom I have the privilege of spending more time with during the pandemic, and beyond. It’s amazing to see the world through his eyes and watch him thrive and grow despite the uncertainty we are all facing.
My son’s curiosity, love for adventure and desire to learn keep me on my toes. Another benefit of being a mother is that I have a more sensitive approach when it comes to my clients. In particular, I understand families who want us to preserve their wealth and plan for retirement so they can spend more time with their loved ones.
How have your values and personal background uniquely positioned you to work with your clients?
I grew up in a large family. My three siblings and I are very different, and each of us has our own strengths and weaknesses. Like all families, we’ve had our ups and downs, but having trusted people in our corner is what helps us thrive as a family unit—during the lighthearted and not-so-pleasant times. The experience of being there for my family, no matter what, taught me how to be a loyal, caring and consistent advisor to my clients. I know the importance of having someone as your rock, especially during unpredictable times. My siblings and I also grew up understanding the importance of altruism. Looking out for our fellow humans is something I am teaching my own family, and hope to bring to my work as well. I want to continue these practices with my family—teaching the importance of giving back at an early age, in any capacity, whether it be money or time, but not losing what’s important in doing it together as a family.
