Tell Me Your Story
Put simply, solving problems, large or small, simple or complex, makes me happy. So does hearing my clients’ unique stories, understanding their ambitions—and applying our sophisticated tools to craft a bespoke plan.
What has inspired you to stay at Bernstein for as long as you have?
I was 23 years old when I interviewed for a desktop technician role at Bernstein’s San Francisco, California, office. Fortunately, I was hired for this role, and seventeen years, five offices and six different roles later, I am still thrilled to be an advisor. This is the position I identified as being my dream job during my second week at the firm. In fact, I’m still amazed that it came to fruition. The one thing that was always clear to me was how passionate the people at Bernstein are about our mission. The very first people I met at the firm talked enthusiastically about it—and now, almost two decades later, I can honestly say that those people were right. The firm has lived up to its mission continually innovating itself in every way to stay ‘Ahead of Tomorrow.’ Bernstein’s constant evolution allows me to deliver the best solutions to my clients—because we are always ahead of the curve.
Tell me about the types of clients you work with.
Many of my clients are current or former business owners. They have oftentimes built businesses that are deeply connected, in one way or another, to their families. As a child, I watched my mother, who was a single parent, work hard to achieve professional and financial success. This is why I am inspired by my clients’ stories of hard work, challenges and successes. I can relate to the fact that they have dedicated their lives to their businesses. Having grown up watching my mother make sacrifices for the family, I do appreciate their commitment, grit and dedication. All this being said, I focus my practice on helping my clients transfer their wealth and values to the next generation so they can also have a secure life. I also work with several medical practices on both their retirement plans and advising the physicians individually.
If you didn’t work for Bernstein, what else would you be doing?
If I hadn’t found Bernstein, I would probably still be working in technology in a sales or client-facing role. I am also obsessed with financial literacy and the history of financial markets. So, I could also see myself educating (and terrifying) young professionals about the importance of retirement planning or keeping college kids on the edge of their seats to learn more about the East India Companies.
