What has inspired you to stay at Bernstein for as long as you have?
I was drawn to Bernstein’s culture when I joined the firm in 1989; and our strong commitment to integrity, purpose and intellectual rigor still inspires me thirty-plus years later. As the markets and families we work with have grown more complex, the firm continues to innovate how we deliver advice and investment ideas to clients. My tenure at the firm is not unique among my colleagues or clients—I am blessed to have many clients I have worked with since joining the firm. I continue to feel at home at Bernstein and am grateful to be supported by my colleagues and our shared sense of teamwork and client focus.
What is the most fulfilling aspect of being an advisor to your clients?
The most fulfilling aspect of my role as an advisor to my clients is the trust and meaningful relationships we build across multiple generations. My work with individuals and families allows them to define, communicate and achieve what is truly important to them. In part, this is reflected in the financial success that is created, grown and protected. Beyond the top-level numbers is the contribution I can make to their sense of comfort and control, and to helping assure an alignment of their finances to their personal goals and to the legacy they wish to leave behind. I love that clients call me when they are in their most pivotal moments. These calls come when clients are starting to plan for the sale of their business, considering the trade-offs of a new job, evaluating a home purchase or planning for their parents or children. Working as a team with clients’ trusted professionals and internal research resources, I love creating a family office approach and improving results.
Who has been the most influential person in your life?
My mom inspires me every day and has been the most influential person in my life. With a PhD in Jewish mysticism and transpersonal psychology, she is an executive coach and consultant with a long career in private practice. She raised my brother and me on her own and is the very embodiment of integrity, creativity, brilliance, kindness and loyalty. I strive to incorporate her key strengths and teachings into all that I do.
