Better Today than We Were the Day Before

I am driven to make clients feel at ease by helping them navigate through complex wealth planning challenges. My hope is that, in assisting them, they can focus their energy and time on what matters most: family.

What has inspired you to stay at Bernstein for as long as you have?

The people. When I joined Bernstein’s Boston office back in 2012, I knew immediately that I had finally found a place where I could be challenged every day. Most often, this comes in the form of Bernstein’s people, who motivate me to learn more than I knew the day before. The foundation of Bernstein’s team-based approach is to learn and improve each day for our clients, colleagues and our families. In an ever-changing world, like the one we live in today, this is critical to the assurance and stability we offer our clients. The philosophy also engenders a culture of support and loyalty among our team members that, in turn, creates superior outcomes for our clients. Since my first day at the firm, I’ve had the benefit of incredible mentors—and am driven every day to make them proud by how I guide my clients to success.

What are your areas of expertise in solving problems for clients?

In addition to leading our Chicago office and managing client relationships, I helped to spearhead Bernstein’s firm-wide effort to provide clients with customized consolidated reporting through our partnership with Addepar and their industry-leading technology. Our clients use a variety of investments to achieve their wealth-planning goals. By using the tool, we are able to obtain important observations into those investments at Bernstein and elsewhere. As we’ve enhanced the tool, we have been able to provide insights into portfolio returns, volatility, and overlapping exposures across a variable landscape of investments and managers. It has become an important mechanism for our clients as they observe the efficacy of their investments and achieve their wealth-planning goals across their family’s trusts and entities.

What passions do you pursue outside of work?

My wife Carrie and I are constantly entertained by our 7-year-old son William who keeps us laughing and busy at all times. I also make time every day for a run, bike ride, or workout in order to stay active. When I have a chance to do something fun with my family and friends, I usually choose an outdoor activity (most recently golf), enjoy a live music event, or indulge in one of my favorite craft beers. In addition, I’m always interested in opportunities to support local Chicago nonprofits, particularly those focused on education and the West Town neighborhood of Chicago where we call home.
