Succession Navigator

I help successful entrepreneurs and families navigate the complexities of business succession. Selling a business, estate, tax, and charitable planning requires careful analysis and consideration. My greatest pleasure is leading clients through succession complexity to make informed decisions that result in a more meaningful life and legacy for them and their families.

What inspired you to join Bernstein?

I joined Bernstein because of how unique we are in comparison to the rest of the industry. At the forefront of my decision-making process was the world-class research our firm produces. I wanted to join a firm that is a direct investor of capital. I believed that Bernstein’s unique combination of research and integrated money management approach would lead to better results for my clients. Since joining, I continue to be impressed with Bernstein’s ongoing commitment to innovation and further development of the complex planning resources that we offer. In an ever-evolving industry permeated by continuous planning complexity, it’s not only important to be at the forefront but critical. Bernstein’s focus on the future enables me to deliver the best possible outcomes for my clients.

Tell me about the types of clients you work with.

I work closely with business owners, entrepreneurs, and corporate executives. My clients hire our team to act as an outsourced family office helping navigate complexity.

Building and managing a successful business creates unique complexities, no matter the circumstances. Some obstacles include raising capital, growing the business, finding the right leadership and governance, succession and exit planning, and creative estate and tax structures. It’s my pleasure to help clients at every stage of their journey. I also feel fortunate to say that our relationship extends beyond investment and wealth management. My clients and I are like-minded in that we all care deeply about family, the arts, philanthropy, and active lifestyles. These shared connections facilitate a deeper, more meaningful relationship that ultimately enables me to address what is next for them.

What passions do you pursue outside of work?

I have two young boys that have a lot of energy. To get that energy out, my wife and I lead a very active lifestyle. I enjoy surfing, skiing, and backcountry mountain trekking with my boys as well as leading them on adventure travel trips.

On a different note, I’ve had the good fortune of being mentored by incredible people along my journey. As a result, I am passionate about giving back to the community. I serve on the Dean’s Advisory Council at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo College of Business. I also act as a mentor and resource to students at the college. Lastly, I am an advisor to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Steinbeck Family Business Center.
