Dare to Be different!

My overall viewpoint is that I’m not afraid to be the contrarian. Sometimes people all want to be similar. Yet we’re all different. I’m very much about learning, being curious and daring to be different.

What’s the best way for people to put their wealth in perspective?

I believe wealth is something that first should provide for family and once that is complete, wealth should be used with the view of what else can it do. Can money help the sick or the less fortunate? Can it change our society for the better? If you look around and see things that can be shaped for the better, then let’s do it! You are in control, it’s your money. Why not be impactful?

Why is it important for people to give back with their wealth? Because there is always this obvious viewpoint of something being wrong or something being a challenge or a gap. For me, giving back is a way to make things better. If you have the wealth to do that, why not do that as a part of what’s morally right? What compels you based on your observation of something being wrong and doing something about it? I think a lot of people today are inclined toward being charitable and they want to control their charity, so why not control it in this way?

What differentiates you from other advisors?

I care. I’m so invested in my clients that I consider them my family. I will take the time to work through complex situations with clients that may not even have to do with their overall allocation or financial goal planning. Since I spend so much time getting to know these people, how could I not be their sounding board, their pseudo therapist? The relationship is much deeper than just a financial conversation, it’s just the start to a great bond that I hope to last for a long time.

Which book had the most profound impact on you and why?

The book that has had the most impact on my life has been the Holy Bible. I read it all the time as a kid, and it’s next to me in my bedroom open on my side of the bed. I believe the stories inside give me perspective and guidance to see deeply into things happening today. It also gives me comfort during times of challenge and controversy. I grew up in a very religious and spiritual household so it has also given me a basis for my moral compass and my love for my fellow humans. And perhaps that level of curiosity that I can’t shake for everyone around me.
