What has inspired you to stay at Bernstein for as long as you have?
Bernstein is a think tank and I thrive in its innovative and inquisitive environment. As a firm, we believe in constructive discourse in the pursuit of excellence. I’m also proud to be a part of an organization that encourages us to foster an environment of discovery for board and family members. Being proactive is how I create unique solutions for the unique needs of each client. Engaging our clients is critical to understanding them. Speaking to this, I help clients better manage and prudently build their wealth by synthesizing research, information and the right techniques for their situation. Still, what’s most important is that clients can tell that I care. There is no ambiguity about my intent to deliver excellence for them.
What differentiates you from other advisors?
I have a broad working knowledge of Wall Street, which is a huge advantage to clients. I also hold degrees in finance, economics and investment management. My volunteerism work entailed the creation of individual investor conferences taught by every financial firm and icon. All of this being said, I offer a unique blend, which is the academic and practical application of investment management philosophies, techniques and disciplines. As an advisor at Bernstein for nearly 35 years, I’ve witnessed the firm’s evolution in terms of how to plan for and achieve client-specific goals. Seeing it all has given me a perspective that, quite simply, cannot be taught. This perspective has been earned through experience and, combined with the command of numerous subject matters, provides my clients with great peace of mind and confidence. They know that I am supremely capable of designing a plan that answers all of their concerns and assists on the path to achieving their dreams.
Who has been the most influential person in your life?
My wife is the most influential person in my life, both personally and professionally. Having built a highly successful company with 5,000 customers and 2.5 employees, she works tirelessly for her clients. My wife is a whirlwind of activity and possesses a deep need to be industrious. She finds procrastination and inactivity to be abhorrent behaviors that destroy productivity. She has a keen ability to solve problems and will never back down from a challenge. In fact, she seeks them out! My wife influences me by way of example. She always tackles the most difficult items first and meets challenges head-on with great success and alacrity. My admiration for her grows daily, and I continue to grow from her uplifting nature and energetic spirit.
