Advocating For My Clients’ Success

The simplicity of great advice comes from listening intently and spending the time to truly understand clients—their values, stories, and dreams. This approach allows me to advocate on their behalf and partner with them to solve whatever challenges life may throw at them.

What inspired you to join Bernstein?

I was immediately attracted to Bernstein’s unwavering commitment to client success. In an industry where many firms look alike, Bernstein seeks to understand the “why” behind our clients’ wealth. We never start with portfolios or investment ideas—we start by helping clients define and articulate their goals, answering the question, “What does success look like for you?” Equipped with this information, we design strategies for families that enable them to achieve their goals. Additionally, Bernstein’s talent and resources are industry-renowned. The ability to collaborate with my colleagues throughout the firm to deliver the best possible outcomes for those who entrust us with their wealth is a distinct advantage.

What is the most fulfilling aspect of being an advisor to your clients?

Being a true advisor goes far beyond the investment portfolio. I love serving as an advocate for my clients, partnering with them to navigate the unique complexities of wealth. This dynamic encompasses working with their other professional advisors (accountants, estate planners, transactional attorneys and investment bankers) to achieve desired outcomes. It also includes being there to listen and talk through personal and family issues. As my Mom liked to say when I was growing up, “If you want to make God laugh, then tell him about your plans.” Life gives us both happy and sad surprises; helping my clients navigate these surprises is what I look forward to every day.

What passions do you pursue outside of work?

Outside of work I like to stay active—whether that’s playing tennis, golf or running along the Chicago lakefront. I was lucky enough to live outside of the United States for two years during high school, which inspired a love for traveling internationally, exploring new countries and cultures, and getting out of my comfort zone. Otherwise, you will find me watching historical documentaries (much to my girlfriend’s annoyance), spending time with friends and family or exploring Chicago.
