What has inspired you to stay at Bernstein for as long as you have?
At Bernstein, we don’t just talk the good talk but rather, put forth a structure that allows us to place clients’ interests first.
Bernstein’s commitment to serving clients with integrity and expertise is why I’ve stayed with the organization for several decades. The fiduciary capacity of our firm is our primary differentiating aspect. Put simply, the manner in which our firm is set up allows me to serve clients to the best of my ability. Clients want an advocate and advisor who will prioritize their interests. Being bound to the kind of fiduciary standard we have at Bernstein makes me feel good about my work and the firm as a whole.
Throughout my tenure here, I’ve been inspired and challenged by my colleagues and the organization that is Bernstein. I feel fortunate every day to have the highest caliber of clients—and to serve them well because I have Bernstein behind me.
How have your values and personal background uniquely positioned you to work with your clients?
Personally, I value integrity, service to others and intellectual curiosity.
I am a child of public educators, feel fortunate to say that I served in the United States Marine Corps for six years—and have used my education to continuously strengthen my knowledge as a financial advisor. These values and my personal background have uniquely positioned me to work with clients in a manner that has integrity, is dedicated to their interests and is grounded in knowledge and many decades of experience.
In regard to service, I am simply energized by helping others and receive genuine satisfaction in doing so. Having the opportunity to provide a positive benefit to others through my work is a wonderful feeling. Since I first began running our Minneapolis office in 2006, I have enjoyed being in a leadership position where I can take responsibility for myself, others and the day-to-day activities of our office. I like overseeing strategy, teams and business and organizational actions.
What passions do you pursue outside of work?
Outside of work, I am dedicated to my family and to maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle. My wife and I have been married for over 20 years and have four wonderful sons. Our entire family enjoys fitness and outdoor activities. Some of my own pursuits have included hiking the Grand Canyon, completing multiple triathlons and numerous fitness challenges. In my free time, I prefer to appreciate natural beauty and the amazing country we live in. One day soon I hope to visit every national park with my wife.
